In the binary directories, you will see the 40+ executable files that comprise WXP. Download each of the files listed.
The database files are located in http://weather.unisys.com/wxp/etc. You will need to download these files. A compressed tar file: wxp-dbase.tgz contains the critical ones.
When you are ready to download, remember the directories to place the files:
| directory | Version |
| /home/wxp/bin | Unix binaries |
| /home/wxp/etc | database tar files |
These files will be routinely updated. New binaries with bug fixes and new features will also appear in these directories. It is recommended to check these files once every 2 to 3 months for newer versions.
Since these were transfered individually, they are be ready to run. Since the FTP transfer did not preserve the executable mode of the files, change to the /home/wxp/bin directory and use the chmod command to make them executable:
% chmod a+x *
Second, you need to expand the database files. Change into the /home/wxp/etc directory and run:
% tar vxfz wxp-dbase.tgz
This should expand the database files.
WXP binaries require a license file in order to run. The license file "wxp.lic" goes in the "/home/wxp/etc" directory. To create this file, contact Unisys and provide the hostname of the computer and/or computers that WXP is going to run on The hostname is what shows up in when you run the "hostname" command. Once Unisys has the hostname(s), you will receive the license file via e-mail which will have the "wxp.lic" file as an attachment. Make sure you put it in the correct directory such as /home/wxp/etc.
